Discover Le Poulbot

If you're strolling through the charming streets of Montmartre in Paris, you’re in for a treat at Le Poulbot, a quaint yet vibrant restaurant tucked away at 3 Rue Poulbot, 75018 Paris, France. This delightful spot is an excellent blend of authentic French cuisine and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re visiting Paris for the first time or you’re a seasoned traveler, this place offers a memorable dining experience that feels both comforting and special.

The moment you walk in, the intimate setting of Le Poulbot immediately captures your attention. It has an unpretentious charm that perfectly reflects the neighborhood's artistic vibe. From the vintage posters on the walls to the softly lit tables, there’s something about the ambiance that makes you feel like you’re stepping into an old friend’s home rather than a bustling Parisian restaurant.

What makes Le Poulbot stand out is its unwavering commitment to quality and traditional French cuisine. They take pride in offering a menu that changes with the seasons, ensuring that each dish is fresh and flavorful. The menu isn’t overwhelming, but it's packed with an assortment of dishes that cater to both traditional tastes and modern preferences. You’ll find classics like “coq au vin” and “cassoulet,” prepared with such care that each bite feels like a celebration of French heritage.

For starters, you might want to dive into a creamy “soupe à l'oignon,” which offers a rich, oniony base with melted cheese that’s perfectly broiled on top. It’s a classic that will transport your taste buds straight to the heart of French comfort food. If you’re a fan of seafood, the “fruits de mer” platter is a must-try. Fresh oysters, shrimp, and crab all sit alongside a tangy vinaigrette, making for an indulgent yet light dish that captures the freshness of the French coastline.

For the main course, Le Poulbot excels in delivering hearty, flavorful dishes that make you feel like you're indulging in a homemade meal. One standout is their duck breast, seared to perfection, with crispy skin and tender, juicy meat that is drizzled with a rich, savory sauce. Pair that with their homemade potato gratin, and you’ve got a dish that’s as satisfying as it is comforting.

But it’s not just the mains that shine; the sides and desserts are equally impressive. The selection of French cheeses served at Le Poulbot is the perfect way to end any meal. Whether you’re a fan of creamy Brie or tangy Roquefort, the cheese plate offers a little something for everyone. And for dessert, the crème brûlée is a winner. It has a perfect balance of creamy and crispy, with a luscious custard beneath that crispy caramelized top that’s as satisfying as the first bite.

When it comes to drinks, Le Poulbot offers a well-curated wine list that features some of the best French wines, many of which are from the nearby regions. Whether you prefer a bold Bordeaux or a light Chardonnay, there’s something here to complement every dish.

Beyond the exceptional food, what truly sets Le Poulbot apart is the service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and eager to ensure you have a great dining experience. There’s a warmth to their service that makes you feel like part of the family. The staff also knows the menu inside and out, ready to offer recommendations or explain the intricacies of each dish in great detail. This level of expertise not only enhances your dining experience but also gives you a deeper appreciation of the flavors that make French cuisine so exceptional.

Over the years, Le Poulbot has become a beloved local gem, receiving praise from both tourists and Parisians alike. Reviews often highlight its perfect balance of quality, atmosphere, and service, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic French dining experience in the heart of Montmartre.

The location is also incredibly convenient for those exploring the area. Whether you’re enjoying a leisurely lunch or a romantic dinner, this restaurant offers a perfect blend of Parisian charm and culinary excellence.

In conclusion, Le Poulbot is more than just a place to eat-it’s an experience. From its traditional French dishes to its inviting atmosphere, it’s a true reflection of the vibrant Parisian culture. • The duck fit is something to die for and the staff here are fantastic. We make a reservation much later but we arrived ahead of schedule and we thought of trying to ask whether we can dine in earlier. Guess what, they were so kind to check for us and able to got us a table! Sashak was constantly checking on us to ensure we are well taken care of. The ambience was truly amazing that comes with a strong Paris vibe.

  • My First time eating french cuisine in Paris We ordered the onion soup, tender beef stew bourguignon and traditional duck confit The duck confit was more sweet but it wasn’t bad The onion soup was very unique. We ordered it despite reading a lot of bad reviews on it but it ended up tasting good My personal favourite was the beef stew The waitress was very kind The restaurant is a bit cramped

  • Best meal we’ve had on our trip. Food was excellent. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy French meal that’s not overly rich. Every dish had great flavour, portion sizes are generous, plating is great. Best lamb I’ve ever had, best (french) onion soup I’ve ever had, top 3 crème brûlée ever. If you’re coming to Paris, this restaurant is a must add to the itinerary.

  • We had a fantastic dinner at Le Poulbot. We had a reservation for 5:30 pm. The service and food were amazing. The French onion soup was the best I’ve ever had. We had bass, Boeuf Bourguignon, pavlova, crème brûlée, and chocolate lava cake. All were superb. I was hesitant to eat at a restaurant without speaking French, but our servers were so kind and accommodating. I highly recommend Le Poulbot. It was a wonderful experience.

  • Absolutely incredible experience! Recommended highly by friends, and it did not disappoint. A gluten-free person in our party was accommodated exceptionally well with prior reservations, as we were placed in a particular part of the restaurant. Food and wine were exceptional, with particularly fabulous care from our waitress; her recommendations were delicious. Personally ordered the Seven Hour Lamb — among the best lamb dishes I’ve ever had. I’d 100% recommend for any traveler in the area!

  • Very nice and friendly restaurant. The meals felt like previously prepared and then plated when ordered but nonetheless they tasted amazing! We had beef bourguignon and lamb. Both tasted very tender with perfect taste and delicious vegetables. The house warm wine was also very good! It did feel very touristy though because all the guests were visitors and it was very cosy inside.

  • We really really enjoyed our time here! The food was phenomenal, I had the salmon and it was so good I could have eaten a second one straight away! The foie gras and onion soup were so tasty! My husband has the duck confit and it was crispy and so well cooked. The service was amazing. We had our two dogs with us so had to sit outside on a frosty November evening. Sashka was so kind and braved the cold weather for us haha. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Paris!

  • Nestled On a narrow, hilly cobblestone Street in the trendy Montmartre neighborhood, this crusty little mom-n-pop hole in the wall delivers on all fronts. Attentive and energetic service and tasty classic French bistro dishes in a casually elegant and intimate dining area. It’s the kind of place that you can sit back, relax and get to know your neighboring diners. Despite Visiting during the off-season in the middle of November, The restaurant was full and we were fortunate to snag the final empty table when we arrived at about 130 on a Thursday. If they were this busy during a cold and windy November day, I can’t imagine how busy They’d be during the busy season. We both had the onion soup appetizer, which was tasty and really hit the spot For a cold and blustery day(It even snowed a little bit during the meal!) But the entrées were the star of the show. I had the boeuf bourguignon and my dining companion had the Travers De porc laque miel, cuit basse temperature frites maison(honey glazed pork ribs) Both were exquisitely prepared, hearty portioned And brought home the perfect comfort meal that we were looking for. As far as the pricing, after tip(Yes, it’s good to tip servers in Europe if your experience is exemplary) it was about 100€ Which might seem a little expensive. However, for the quality, portions and the high rent neighborhood it really is reasonable and we will happily go back the next time we visit. We thank the entire staff for giving us an amazing experience!
